Sydney Fair: Big Night Out jewellers cruise is fully booked

With just one week to go until the International Jewellery Fair, all available tickets have been sold for a special industry event.

The inaugural edition of the Australian jewellery industry’s ‘Big Night Out’ event will take place on the evening of 23 August (Saturday).

The cruise on the Sydney Harbour includes food, drinks, and entertainment, departing King Street Wharf (9) at 7.30 pm and returning after 2.5 hours.

The event has been created for the entire industry — bringing independent retailers, buying groups, suppliers, and associations together to connect and unwind in a relaxed setting. With the wait for the Sydney Fair nearly over, Expertise Events managing director Gary Fitz-Roy confirmed that the cruise is officially sold out.

“The cruise is officially fully booked. Because it’s the first year of this event, we set what we thought was a modest target in terms of tickets sold, and we’ve comfortably exceeded that,” he told Jeweller.

“Everyone we’ve spoken to is excited about the format and is keen to get out on the waters of Sydney Harbour. Unfortunately, because we’re fully booked, some people will miss out, and we’ve organised a waiting list in case places open up.”

The Big Night Out is supported by Australia’s three industry buying groups - Nationwide Jewellers, Showcase Jewellers, and the Independent Jewellers Collective - and BECKS has joined the event as a sponsor. Fitz-Roy said that it was shaping up to be a memorable weekend.

“It’s a little too early to discuss specific numbers, but at this stage, we know that the Sydney Fair will have more exhibitors than last year,” Fitz-Roy added.

“In terms of visitor registration, we are trending in the right direction for a successful weekend.”

The International Jewellery Fair will take place at Sydney’s International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour, beginning on 23 August.
