Nautica Watches times global sailing event

Nautica Watches has signed as the official time sponsor for this week’s International Etchells World Championship.
Hosted by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, the regatta runs from February 20-25 and is considered one of the most competitive one-design sail boat racing events in the world, attracting professional and amateur sailors.

Kate Wood, Nautica brand manager for its Australian distributor, Designa Accessories, said the company’s ranges traditionally cater to ocean enthusiasts and boasts a variety of sporting designs, making it the ideal partner for the Etchells Championship.

“Nautica products represent design inspired by an energetic and active llifestyle,” Wood said. “We support the values of an Etchells class race and look forward to a fast-paced and exciting regatta.”

The regatta is an annual event that travels across the globe. Previously held in the USA followed by Italy next year, this year’s race attracted 73 entries across professional and amateur levels. Elite crew including Mark Richards and America’s Cup winner, John Bertrand as well as Olympic gold medallist Tom King, are but a few of the illustrious names on show.

The championship features nine races across the week followed by a closing awards ceremony and regatta dinner at the Royal Sydney yacht Squadron.

“Nautica is proud to align with such a prestigious and respected competition,” Wood said. “The Etchells Championship has great history around the world and attracts about 290 Australian and international sailors.”
