Sydney woman wins $20K diamond ring

Musson Jewellers celebrated its new store opening with a $20,000 diamond ring give-away.
Sandra Fong of Strathfield snagged a diamond-encrusted ring crafted by the award-winning Musson Jewellers as part of a campaign to promote the opening of its new boutique in Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building (QVB).
Chosen from over 6000 entrants around Australia, Fong won the one-carat ‘Sun Struck’ diamond, designed by craftsman Olivar Musson.
According to Musson, the prized diamond ring, set in 18-carat white gold, is valued at $20,000.
Managing director of the family-owned business, Damien Musson, told Jeweller that the competition was an exercise designed to create awareness of its new store.
The expansion into QVB, perhaps the most iconic retail location in Australia, gives the retailer an opportunity to reach a broader market.
“[The competition] introduces customers to our new store and allowed us the opportunity to offer our CBD and southern suburb clientele the chance to win jewellery,” Musson said.
Contestants entered the competition by entering their email addresses via in-store iPads, or by visiting Musson’s website.
Owner and founder Robert Musson presented Fong with the ring at the QVB store, happy someone from his hometown won the prize.
“I’m thrilled to see a Strathfield local take out the prize,” Musson said. “Having grown up in the inner-west, I’m glad to see ‘Sun Struck’ will be going to a wonderful home.”
Fong, who is retired, said she was shocked and overjoyed at the prospect of displaying such a glittering design.
“It’s a privilege to be able to receive such a sought-after diamond,” Fong said. “I love diamonds like every lady and this ring is exceptionally beautiful.”
