Four men – Alberto Perez-Elias, Ivel Sanchez Rivera, Osmani Barrios Carrera and Yunior Lopez-Delgado – have already been charged in connection with the Tio Jewellers robbery in Cape Coral, Florida, under a superseding indictment filed on 24 June.
The armed robbery occurred on 6 January. Two suspects entered the jewellery store by breaking through the wall of an adjacent vacant business, while the others served as lookout and getaway driver.
The suspects allegedly held the manager at gunpoint, accessed the safe and stole thousands of pieces of jewellery valued at more than $USD1 million ($AUD1.43 million). The stolen items included merchandise, items under repair, and goods acquired through pawn transactions.
A court affidavit states that Tio Jewellers sourced gold and jewellery from other states for manufacturing and retail. The robbery disrupted interstate trade and limited the business's ability to purchase new inventory.
Among the four individuals charged, Perez-Elias, a Cuban national who lived in Miami, has been added to the FBI's Most Wanted List. He is described as being in his mid-50s, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.
The group faces federal charges of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, interference with commerce by robbery and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Each defendant could receive up to 20 years in federal prison upon conviction, in addition to a mandatory seven-year sentence for the firearm charge.
